If you lead a very stressful life, which is usually the result of either your place of work or the people that you interact with the most, this can cause your body to always be in a distressed state. As with sugar, this will compromise your immune system, but stress also releases stress hormones such as cortisol which can also cause acne to erupt. By calming yourself occasionally, through meditation, or simply finding a different job – or changing the people that you spend time with the most if possible – you can get control of your acne using this strategy.
Your genetics may also play a role. If you have very oily skin, this means that the pores in your face can easily get clogged mixing with the dead skin cells that naturally occur everyday. The more stressed you are under, the more likely it is that your sebaceous glands will overproduced oil in your pores leading to clogs causing pimples.
